Two persons, who are seeking to be appointed Municipal Chief Executive for the  Builsa North Municipality are demanding the release of results for the vetting of aspirants for the top job in the Municipality.

The aspirants – Ignatius Akaboka and Imoro Abudu – are also demanding investigation into allegations of rigging of the vetting results.

In a petition to the Upper East Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the regional vetting committee, they say they are dissatisfied that results of the vetting that took place on January 23, 2025 have not yet been released.

The delay, they claimed, has resulted in wild speculations regarding the results and heightened tension as allegations of rigging spread across the area.

“This situation has led to rife speculations on the fact that some qualified candidates have been removed and replaced with unqualified candidates,” excerpt of the petition read.

“The delay in the release of the results has resulted in heightened tensions among the youth of the constituency.”

They are, therefore, demanding the immediate release of the “true certified copy of the vetting results” by the vetting committee and the second phase of the vetting to be put on hold “until proper investigation is carried out to ascertain the true reflection of the results”.

They are also demanding that the Regional Secretary and now Regional Minister Donatus Akamugri Atanga recuses himself from the investigation “due to his perceived biases with some of the candidates”.

“This will ensure fairness and respect for the rule of natural justice,” the petition concluded.
