The Parliamentary Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bongo Constituency of the Upper East Region, Diana Aburiya, has expressed optimism in the ability of the party to boot out the National Democratic Congress (NDC) come December 7, 2024.
Madam Aburiya, who returned as the NPP’s candidate in the constituency, is confident of breaking the 32-year dominance of the NDC.
She expressed this optimism at a ceremony to inaugrate the NPP campaign team in the constituency for the 2024 elections.
The campaign team comprises constituency executives, district leaders, and some respected members of the party who are poised to canvas support for the Presidential and parliamentary candidates.
Since the creation of the Bongo Constituency some 32years ago, the NPP has yet to win the seat with the NDC still hopeful of further demonstrating their dominance.
Madam Aburiya believes her party has what it takes to conduct a unique campaign that will help secure the seat for the NPP.
Speaking to Journalists on Monday, May 6, 2024, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the campaign team, she disclosed that the entire constituency will see a different approach to the elections.
In her view, the NDC will park and run out of the constituency adding the umbrella party has failed the people of Bongo over the years.
Madam Aburiya argued that the dominance of the NDC in Bongo has not been beneficial to the people of Bongo. Rather, she holds the view that the NPP has a better record in Bongo than the NDC.
“It is going to be an entirely different campaign that we are going to carry out and when we kick start, the whole of Bongo will see that yes! NPP really means to break the 8 in Bongo and it is not just mere words but we mean it and the NDC will run away when we start the campaign.”
She continued stating “Sometimes it is not just about the dominance of the party but it also has to do with what the dominance of the party has done for the people of Bongo and the dominance of the NDC has not yielded benefits for the people of Bongo and the people of Bongo agree desirous of getting their share of the national cake and I believe that the message I am preparing to send out to the people will touch their hearts to give the NPP the chance and see what they can do for the people of Bongo.” Madam Aburiya stressed.
