Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency Isaac Adongo is galvanising support for the District Chief Executive nominee for the Bongo District in the Upper East Region.

Ms. Rita Atanga was nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo as DCE for the area. She will replace Mr. Peter Ayinbisa who has served in that position since 2017.

Following an expression of doubt over the ability of the nominee to withstand the rancor and rough terrain in both the political and assembly administration of the Bongo District, the Bolgatanga Central NDC MP noted that the nominee stands the chance of succeeding if she would be open minded and learn from the technocrats and her peers.

Social commentator and Dreamz FM’s presenter, Stanley Abopam believes Ms. Rita Atanga is inexperienced and will find it difficult meeting the high standard of local governance set by the outgoing DCE, Peter Ayinbisa.

Sharing his view on the list of MMDCE’s nominees released by the Local Government Minister, Mr. Abopam said unlike Mr. Ayinbisa who had gained vast experience serving in various key positions in the public and political space prior to his appointment and has used same  to project the district, Madam Rita is relatively new in the political terrain and does not have the experience and the toughness to withstand the rancor which usually characterize politics at the local level hence, it will be challenging for her to effectively man the district and give it the projection it got under the leadership of Peter Ayinbisa.

But in a reaction to the assertion, the Bolgatanga Central NDC MP Isaac Adongo argued that he had no experience at the time he was voted to parliament in 2016. He intimated that he has become better over the years following his open mindedness to learn and support he received from technical people and his peers in parliament.

“I’m no more the Adongo of 2016 that entered the public space and got voted for by my beloved constituents. I have made mistakes, learnt from my leaders, supported by my network of technical and professional colleagues and I’m a lot better in quality, in depth than I entered public life. Even then I still have rough edges to be sharpened with a lot of room to improve and get better.

There are no final articles waiting to be employed,” he reacted in a social media post seen by dreamzfmonline.

While calling for support for the nominee, he added that “No one is born with experience and toughness. She will make mistakes, learn from them, get support from the technocrats at the Assembly and experienced peers to improve and get better.

Let’s help, support her and we could be looking at a huge talent in future”.

Although the committee tasked to vet the MMDCE’s aspirants had recommended for either Diana Aduko Aburiya Asuure or Ayambire Cletus Innocent to be considered for nomination as DCE, the President is said to have ditched the recommended persons for Madam Rita who is seen as a neutral in the rancorous rivalry between Peter Ayinbisa and Madam Diana Aburiya.
