FLYER ADVERTISING COMMISSIONING OF STREETLIGHTS IN BOLGA

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on October 7, 2020, commissioned newly installed streetlights in Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region. He was flanked by many high-ranking government officials and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwarts.

In a flyer advertising the commissioning of the project, the Regional Minister Ms Tangoba Abayage described the project as “ultramodern”.

Many had wondered whether or not the President was indeed going to commission something as ordinary as streetlights. But NPP supporters defended the move, insisting that the installation of ultramodern streetlights deserved commissioning by none other than the President himself.

To the shock of the President’s critics, he commissioned the streetlights at the Bolga Hospital Roundabout by switching them when darkness fell. This, he did, much to the delight of his supporters.

Feedback on the commissioning of the streetlights has largely been negative. Some residents are unhappy that the older but functioning streetlights were left to go faulty only for Government to replace some and install others and commission them as a major achievements.

BOLGA STREETLIGHTS COMMISSIONED BY PRESIDENT AKUFO ADDO

But as expected, party supporters are excited and grateful to Government for the major achievement.

The President commissioned the streetlights as part of his campaign tour of the region.

Last week, the President courted controversy when he commissioned hospital beds before distribution to hospitals.
