DR. DOMINIC AYINE COMMISSIONING ONE OF THE BOREHOLES

The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Dominic Akuretinga Ayine, has commissioned 10 boreholes recently constructed for 10 communities in the constituency.

These communities include Dubila, Kunkua, Doligo-Kuka, Kumbosgo, Yerigabiisi, Gambibgo, Dachio, Gunno, amongst others.

According to the three-term lawmaker, the 10 new boreholes are his initiative and have been executed with support from some friends, thereby, bringing the number of boreholes he has since constructed in the constituency after assuming office as MP in  2012 to 83.

A single unit of the boreholes costs GH¢25,000 with GH¢250, 000 being the entire amount spent in constructing all 10 boreholes

Dr. Ayine said that he is unmatched when it comes to the construction of boreholes in the constituency as he takes a swipe at the Northern Development Authority (NDA) for failing to complete some boreholes that were started in the constituency before the 2020 elections.

The private legal practitioner in an interview with the media on the sidelines of the commissioning in Yerigabiisi, noted that access to water remained a fundamental human right hence his desire to continue the construction of boreholes.

“We just handed a borehole costing about GH¢25,000 to the people of Yerigabiisi. This time, I have done 10 boreholes costing about GH¢250,000 and this was done with support from some business friends who want to remain anonymous. I am doing this because water is a very important basic commodity and it is a fundamental human right that people have access to clean water. I want to thank all my friends for their support and in terms of the number of boreholes I have sunk in this constituency; we have done 83 in all electoral areas.” He stated.

Some residents expressed excitement following the construction of the boreholes for their communities.

“This borehole has helped us a lot. The one here is an old one that is seriously damaged such that the water is no longer safe. So, this will help us. You can even see that our animals are also drinking from it and our children can get water early to go to school.” Paulina, a resident of Kumbosgo stated.
