Mathew Silas Amoah, Parliamentary Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bolgatanga East Constituency, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, donated roofing sheets and assorted medicines to the Bolgatanga East District Health Directorate.
The donation was in response to a call for support placed to him by the health directorate to help in ongoing efforts to complete a structure set to be utilized as an office space that has for long, not been roofed and furnished. The uncompleted structure has left officials of various units of the directorate squeezed in an open hall which does not allow for privacy and handling various issues from the public.
In responding to the call for support, Mr. Amoah who recently received a popular acclamation as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the area donated more than the directorate expected by adding assorted drugs to the roofing sheets to present to the health authorities.
The drugs are meant for various conditions such as high blood pressure, blood boosters, and gloves among others.
This intervention comes days after he supported the National Ambulance Service in the district to fix the ambulance meant for the constituency revealing that the district will in the not-too-distant future receive another ambulance to complement efforts to improve health care.
Speaking to the media after the presentation, Mr. Amoah disclosed that health is one of the critical areas and therefore forms part of the core areas that will get his attention as a parliamentary candidate adding a lot more will be done for such key sectors of the economy if he is made the member of parliament for the area in 2024.
“We had a letter from the Ghana Health Service regarding a building they are putting that they require assistance to roof the structure and so we decided to get the roofing sheets from them. Apart from the roofing sheets, we decided to get assorted drugs including malaria drugs, BP drugs, gloves, and a lot more worth over 40,000 cedis to also to present to them because health is important to us and this is not the first time we are responding to a call like this.
On the ambulance, it is a vision but it is something we are looking at. Trust me, before I mention something, it is already 80% done and so by the grace of God, it won’t be long, our district will definitely get an ambulance to add up to what his excellency has already given to us.” Mr. Amoah disclosed.
The Bolga District Health Director, Emmanuel Kuu-re Kob-puo, while expressing gratitude for the donation says it will go a long way to enhance productivity adding the current office space is too crowded and is not conducive to ensuring privacy, which is key in the health sector.
“The current office space is just about four rooms and it is housing about 8 offices it is not conducive and when this one is done, it will improve the efficiency of the officers.” He explained.
The District Chief Executive for the area, David Amoah, says he is happy for the intervention given the enormous pressure on the assembly.
Mr. Amoah further urged the people of the area to vote for Mr. Silas Amoah in 2024 to become the Member of Parliament.
