Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has retained the seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), beating off competition from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) parliamentary candidate Silas Mathew Amoah.
Dr. Ayine polled 12,002 of the 19,478 valid votes cast to retain the seat for fourth time while Silas Amoah obtained 7,415, failing in his bid to unseat the incumbent MP.
Both Dr. Ayine and Silas Amoah had engaged in rancorous campaigns, trading salvos and accusations as the latter was expected to give the MP a run for his money.
Dr. Dominic Ayine has been the Member of Parliament for the constituency since it was created, winning in 2012, 2016, 2020 and now, 2024.
