THE DESTRUCTION DONE TO MR. AYARIGA'S ROOM

Sylvester Ayariga, a cobbler with a physical disability has had his rented mud room partly destroyed by the garbage truck of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly.

The incident is said to have occurred on October 16, 2024, when the garbage truck went to Daporetindongo, a community in the Municipality to clear some a heap of garbage in the area.

Following a wrong turn, the truck hit part of the rented mud structure across a gutter, creating a deep hole.

“They were clearing this borla and on the first day, I was around but the second day, I was away at work and was called that the truck destroyed portions of my rented mud structure,” narrated Ayariga.

This has left Mr. Ayariga struggling to accommodate himself, his wife, and his kids as the place is now too exposed.

“I called the landlord and he said there was no other space.” Mr. Ayariga continued stating”I sleep here with my wife and kids and this thing is beyond my strength. Currently, I have just blocked the deep hole with roofing sheets. I informed the assembly member but I have still not seen anyone here.” He further cried out.

He explains that visits to the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to draw the attention of authorities to his plight have yielded no positive results.
Mr. Ayariga, who cannot walk, plies his trade as a cobbler in front of the Queen Elizabeth Day Nursery and uses a bicycle, retrofit for persons with disability to aid in his mobility.

“I went to the Assembly on the first day I couldn’t meet the MCE. I went the second time with my wife and she went and they said he was busy and we waited and she went up again and he said he would come down and meet me. We waited and he never came and I left,” he lamented.

HOW HE HAS COVERED THE BIG HOLE

He is deeply worried about the state of the structure and how it is affecting him and is therefore calling on the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to fix the damage done.
