The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly per information available has collaborated with waste management company, Zoomlion to provide funds for the fixing of a room that was partly broken by a garbage truck serving the Municipality when it went to clear waste at Daporetindongo.
Following a report by Dreamz News on the plight of Sylvester Ayariga, a cobbler with physical disability, whose rented mud room was partly destroyed by the garbage truck of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga, Rex Asanga, assured the publisher that the assembly would immediately take steps to repair the damage.
The incident is said to have occurred on October 16, 2024 when the garbage truck went to Daporetindongo, a community in the Municipality to clear a heap f garbage in the area.
Due to a wrong turn, the truck hit part of the rented mud structure, creating a deep hole.
The situation left Mr. Ayariga struggling to accommodate himself, his wife and kids as the place was now too exposed. He had said that visits to the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to draw the attention of authorities to his plight had yielded no positive results.
Mr. Ayariga, who cannot walk, plies his trade as a cobbler in front of the Queen Elizabeth Day Nursery and uses a bicycle, retrofit for persons with disability to aid in his mobility.
He was deeply worried about the state of the structure and how it was affecting him and therefore, calledd on the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to fix the damage done.
The assembly, last Friday, in collaboration with waste management company Zoomlion, made funds available for the repair of the damage.
