MR. SLYVESTER AYARIGA, A COBBLER

Information available to Dreamz News suggests the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly will today make funds available for the repair of the mud room of Sylvester Ayariga, a cobbler with physical disability whose rented room was partly damaged by a garbage truck designated by the Assembly to clear waste in the Municipality.

According to the Assembly Member Daporetindongo Area, Christopher Akulga, he had been asked to follow up later to day to claim the funds for Mr. Ayariga.

“The assessment was done yesterday and they have prepared budget. And this morning, they will be releasing funds for us to repair to repair the damaged room,” Akulga said in an interview on Breakfast News on Dreamz FM.

“This morning, I will be going to the assembly to take the funds for the repair of the room”.

The incident is said to have occurred on October 16, 2024 when the garbage truck went to Daporetindongo, a community in the Municipality to clear a heap of garbage in the area.

Following a wrong turn, the truck hit part of the rented mud structure, which is across a gutter, creating a deep hole.

This has left Mr. Ayariga struggling to accommodate himself, his wife and kids as the place is now too exposed.

THE DESTRUCTION DONE TO MR. AYARIGA’S ROOM

He explains that visits to the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to draw the attention of authorities to his plight have yielded no positive results.

Mr. Ayariga, who cannot walk, plies his trade as a cobbler in front of the Queen Elizabeth Day Nursery and uses a bicycle, retrofit for persons with disability to aid in his mobility.

He is deeply worried about the state of the structure and how it is affecting him and is therefore calling on the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to fix the damage done.

The MCE admitted in an interview that certain circumstances led to delay in responding to the issue but assured of work being done about the situation.
