BLACK MAIDENS' DEFENDER, MAGDALENE AWUNI

In an era where there are complaints about young footballers being ungrateful, Magdalene Awuni has never forgotten her roots.

She learned the basics of football among the Under 13 and 15 teams of Wiaga United FC before joining Bolga All Stars Ladies, from where she was invited to the U-17 national women’s team.

Magdalene was the only young girl among the all boys’ teams but she was very serious with her training. Her perseverance has paid off as she succeeded in being the few young people from the Upper East to make the grade for the national teams.

In appreciation of what Wiaga United FC has done for her, the young talented player, who was part of the Black Maidens side that was eliminated from the world cup qualification by Morocco, on Monday, June 13, 2022 donated assorted sportswear to management of Wiaga United FC

The items included a full set of training cones, a set of training vests, and hoses among others.

Receiving the items, Vice-president and Deputy CEO of the club, Godfrey Aboalik, thanked the young girl for the kind gesture and prayed for success in her footballing career.
