The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Binduri Constituency has refuted allegations that it is behind the attack on the New Patriotic Party’s Chairman for the area and the torching of a car belonging to the NPP.
A Nissan Pickup vehicle, belonging to the NPP in Binduri was completely burnt in the incident that happened on July 22, 2024, at the residence of the Constituency Chairman, Samuel Ayaago.
The assailants, numbering 3 and said to have been masked, reportedly opened gunfire upon arriving at the residence on two motorbikes before pouring liquid suspected to be petrol on the vehicle and subsequently, set it ablaze.
The NDC, in a statement, said the Member of Parliament for the area accused the party of being behind the attack, an accusation it has vehemently denied.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM yesterday, the NDC’s Communication Officer for the Constituency, Jambeidu Mbawini Sadat said the party is baffled that the MP only found his voice because his party’s car has been torched but ignored serious attacks in the past that claimed lives.
“The NDC in Binduri, we don’t need to burn a car before we win an election. It’s a traditional seat of the NDC and we are going to win that seat back. So I don’t see any reason for burning a car before we win an election,” he stated.
“We didn’t accuse the NPP for being behind the attack on our former chairman. Our current constituency chairman was equally attacked in his house, even his case was worse because one of the criminals died in the yard of our current constituency chairman”.
While rejecting the allegations, he stated that Abdulai Abanga’s failure to condemn deadly attacks in the past is an indication that he (Abanga) cares about not the people of the constituency but his party.
