The Chief Executive Officer of BC Bencyn Group, operators of Bencyn Pharmacy and Susu Enterprise, Benjamin Anyanah, has revealed that he is a proud practitioner of African Traditional Religion.
Mr. Anyanah in his disclosure says he is guided by the principles of the religion which require that one must remain honest, should not seek the downfall of another, working hard among others values that guide humanity and improves life.
The African Traditional Religion, which is mostly practiced in different ways depending on the cultural setting following colonization which came with Christianity, has become the most attacked religion as many people now consider it as fetish.
It involves the pouring of libation and the sacrificing of animals to one’s ancestors to request for guidance and protection. In some instances, the sacrifices are done to appease the ancestors in the case of a wrong doing or to prevent a calamity.
The religion is one of the most attacked religions in Ghana and across Africa since its practices and beliefs are now seen by many as wrong.
It is on this score that Mr. Anyanah, says he is proud to be a practitioner of the traditional religion as he explains that he does not compel his children or Members of his family to worship with him adding he has respect for how others practice and therefore, expects others to respect his decision and mode of worship.
Speaking Tuesday on the State of Our Nation, Mr. Anyanah says he has no regrets and is not moved by what people says about his religious practice.
“Not that I’m against any other faith but I just think I have to go back and it gives me self-confidence. I begin to believe that I’m a human being. I sacrificed through my dad to my ancestors, I pour libation and early morning when I get up, when I’m going to eat or take beer, I pour some for my ancestors that I thank them, libation is a form of prayer. There are so many things that we do,” he stated.
“I’m not bothered about what they think about me. I’m not supposed to live somebody’s life. I’m living my life. My children married in a church, I went and witnessed them got married. But I’m praying through my ancestors to bless them. I’m not serving God to please people. I’m serving God to please God”.
For those who curse other religions including African Traditional Religion, Mr. Anyanah says one does not serve God by demonizing other religious practice.
