DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA-VICE PRESIDENT OF GHANA

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has intervened to pay the school fees of a brilliant but needy girl who gained admission to read a 6-year degree program in medicine at the University for Development Studies (UDS).

This was after some social media users shared the heart-touching story of the 18-year old girl who almost had her dreams of becoming a medical doctor dashed due to her poor financial background.

With an excellent performance in the 2020 WASSCE scoring 4 As and 4 Bs, she has been offered admission to read a 6-year MBCHB (Medicine) undergraduate program at the University for Development Studies.

She, however, was at the verge of losing the chance to further her education as result of her inability to foot the school fees.

Following advocacy on social media to solicit financial support for the girl, a close associate of Dr. Bawumia, Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeini revealed that the Vice President has committed to see the young girl through university.

In post on social media, Mr. Akbar Yussif disclosed that “the Vice President has intervened in the case of the young Free SHS girl who has gained admission to read Medicine at UDS.He is paying for all her tuition fees. I believe this should end the sharing of her issue. We thank Allah for this intervention and may Allah continue to bless Dr. Bawumia.”

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has become unknown for his benevolent acts after lending a helping hand to many needy people.

In 2020, the Vice President built and fully furnished a two-bedroom apartment for a cured octogenarian leper after a documentary by JoyNews TV highlighted the plight of the 80-year old woman who had been abandoned by family members.

The old woman who lost all her fingers due to the ailment had had to live in a dilapidated mud hut together with her granddaughter and barely could feed herself.

In less than 24 hours after her sad story was told in the documentary, the Vice President went to her aid donating among others foodstuffs and toiletries and subsequently built a decent home for her.
