Educationist Prof. David Millar says Vice-president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia still has a  promising political career despite his poor showing in the just ended presidential election.

Prof. Millar attributed the Vice-president’s defeat in the election to the misdeeds of the Akufo-Addo administration.

While he believes Dr. Bawumia was side-lined in the scheme of affairs especially in the second term of the administration, he said the Vice-president’s continuous stay in office cost him the election.

According to him, many believed Dr. Bawumia spearheaded the decisions that pushed the country into crisis and thus, voted against him at the polls.

He is, however, optimistic the Vice-president will bounce stronger, stating that, “he has a very bright future still”.

Prof. Millar also defended the Vice-president against tags that he is a liar, arguing that Dr. Bawumia speaks to facts.

However, he observed that the Vice-president exaggerate the figures sometimes in his bid to score political capital.

“Generally, he’s a pleasant fellow. He’s very pleasant and he’s very principled. Only that his style of presenting issues normally goes a bit too far,” he stated.

“He’s going on an issue. And you say ‘oh, this man, can’t you stop here?’ Especially with those of us who are elderly. Then he goes beyond and the beyond one now causes trouble.

So, they say he’s a liar, you see. But it’s not a complete lie. It’s a truth that has been embellished a bit but wrongly so, you see. So, he’s not a bad person”.
