The overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Area Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II has appealed to Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to see to the resolution of the Bawku conflict.

The traditional ruler noted that the conflict is stifling development in the area.

According to him, many lives and properties have been lost to the protracted conflict.

He is, therefore, appealing for urgent measures to be taken to end the disturbances.

“I have a firm belief that if you become president, you will want to preside over a peaceful nation and a peaceful Kusaug Traditional Area that will support your vision for development. It’s my believe that you have what it takes to bring this conflict to end to help save lives and properties,” he said in a statement read on his behalf.

Naba Azoka II said this in an address to welcome the Vice-President, who doubles as flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), to his palace.

While expressing worry over the situation, he indicated his confidence in the Vice-President to end the disturbances and restore peace in the area.

“I, therefore, want to appeal to you to take all appropriate steps to bring peace to Bawku. This is a task I’m assigning you and I have no doubt that you can and will successfully deliver this to the glory of Kusaal and Mampurugu in particular and Ghana as a whole”.

The overlord, however, dismissed the widely held belief that the renewed conflict is connected to the dispute over the Bawku skin.

He argued that the dispute over the occupancy of the skin has long been settled hence, there is no such dispute.
