Atinga Nsobila Joel seeks to break a Guinness World Record

Joel Atinga Nsobila, a resident of Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region, who intends to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest barbecue marathon by an individual, has explained why the event will take place in the national capital Accra but not his hometown.

Atinga’s desire to break the Guinness World Record currently said to be held by an American, he explained, is to project the Upper East Region and to dispel the conception that such businesses are meant for only the uneducated.

However, he cannot hold it in his home region as he wished to make it the centre of attention due to the records organization stringent rules.

Per the rules of the game, the attempt is supposed to take place in the attempter’s business location.

And since Atinga runs his grilling business in Accra, he is obligated to attempt the record breaking there.

In an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, he said although he tried to move the venue from Accra to Bolga, the rules are so stringent that

Regardless, Atinga believes his quest for the longest barbecue marathon record by an individual will put the region on the spotlight.

“I have had a lot calls concerning where the attempt is taking place.  If you are applying for a business, they would ask you where is the business located. So during the application, my business is located in Accra so I said Accra. So automatically, they gave me Accra as the venue. I tried ways and means to see if I could change the venue. But it wasn’t an easy thing. It will be taking place in Accra, Legon City mall,” he explained.

He appealed for support to enable him sail through, revealing that the meat prepared will be distributed to those present and the needy.

“It will take a toll on us financially. So we are hoping a d still appealing to people for support. We need sponsorship. You want to partner with us too, you can come on board. So these are ways and means we are trying to get funds to support it”.

On the back of the disqualification of Afua Asantewaa A. Aduonum and Chef Faila Abdul-Razak’s attempts for the longest singing and cooking marathons respectively due to failure to adhere to the rules of the organization, Atinga said he is resolved to stringently follower the rules to the latter.
