National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has taken a swipe at the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following the balloting exercise which has put the President at the number one position on the ballot paper.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, the number one position of the President on the ballot paper connotes his bad leadership. This bad leadership, he claimed, is characterized by corruption, nepotism, ethnocentrism, vindictiveness and lawlessness.
Mr. Sammy Gyamfi’s comments come on the back of the balloting exercise which was held yesterday, October 20, 2020 to determine the position of each of the qualified presidential candidates on the ballot paper in the December General Elections.
Gary Nimako of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) picked the first position for the NPP while the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Boamah Otokunor, picked the number two position for the NDC.
Members of both the NDC and the NPP have since been jubilating over the positions of their candidates and assigning various meanings to the positions.
For the governing NPP, the number one position is a forecast of the forthcoming victory of their presidential candidate, President Akufo-Addo, but members of the NDC including their Communications Officer think otherwise.
Mr. Gyamfi opined that the position of the President on the ballot paper only goes to reinforce their long-standing position that he has demonstrated poor leadership in his steering of the affairs of the country.
“No1 in corruption, No1 in nepotism, No1 in vindictiveness, No1 in ethnocentrism, No1 in lawlessness,” he stated in a post on social media.
In an earlier post, Sammy Gyamfi had likened former President Mahama’s position on the ballot paper to the Christian belief of the Second Coming of Jesus, stating that Mr. Mahama has been ordained for a second term in office by God.
“John Mahama will be number two (2) on the ballot on 7th December, meaning God has ordained him, @JDMahama for a second (2nd) term. President Akufo Addo will be number (1) on the ballot, meaning that President Akufo Addo is ordained for just one (1) term,” he said in an earlier post.
The balloting exercise follows the announcement of the qualified presidential candidates for the 2020 presidential Elections.
The Electoral Commission at a press briefing on Monday, October 19, 2020 announced that 12 aspirant qualified to contest in the December Elections while 5 others were disqualified.
