Ghanaian celebrity Rosemond Brown popularly called Akuapem Poloo has been granted Gh¢80,000 bail with two sureties to be justified by an Accra High Court.

The convicted actress has been ordered by the court to report to the investigator of the case to report every two weeks and can only travel when the court permits.

The court presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey further instructed her to deposit her passport with the registrar of the court.

Reports added that the application for bail was not opposed by the state who were present in court represented by Senior State Attorney Selasie Kuwornu.

This is because the State had no control over the length of the appeal which could travel beyond the 90 days jail sentence.

The Accra Circuit Court sentenced the ecstatic celebrity to 3 months imprisonment for publishing a nude picture of herself and her son on social media.

The actress on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 pleaded guilty to charges of publication of obscene materials and domestic violence and was convicted on her own plea.

She was, however, remanded into lawful custody to undergo a pregnancy test as required by the law before her sentence.

Following her conviction, there have campaigns on social by celebrities for her to be freed or be given less harsh punishment. With the ‘#FreeAkuapemPoloo’, they argued that although the action of the actress is condemnable, she did not published those pictures with any negative intentions and considering the fact that she is a single mother, it will not be right for her to be given a custodial sentence as that could have negative impact on her son.

But the court on Friday, April 16, 2021, handed her 3-month jail term despite the public pleas for non-custodial sentence.

Akuapem Poloo, in 2019 on the birthday of her seven-year-old son, took a nude picture of herself and the son and posted it on social.

The case was subsequently appealed by her lawyer.
