The Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Abdallah Jonathan Salifu has stated that he is confident that the Upper East Regional Minister Designate, Donatus Akamugri, would succeed as regional minister.
According to him, Mr. Akamugri has no reason to fail as Minister given his level of experience.
“I think that he has no excuse to fail. If he fails, then he has failed. We are ready to give him the maximum support as executives, as party foot soldiers. And like you rightly said, knowing the region very well, the political corners, the political structure, he has no excuse to fail”.
Donatus Akamugri Atanga, after 27 years of serving as Regional Secretary, has been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama as Minister-Designate for Upper East Region pending parliamentary approval.
Mr. Salifu explained that Mr. Akamugri comes on-board with vast knowledge of the development gaps and challenges in the region and is rightly placed to ensure he works to improve the situation.
He is of the view that Mr. Akamugri would be able to perform better than other Ministers, adding his role as Regional Secretary would make him a better Minister.
“I know that with the experience, with the knowledge he has, especially with regards to this region, he should be able to perform more than other regional ministers”.
He commended Dr. Hafiz Bin-Salih, the immediate Regional Minister for his efforts despite his short stay.
