Broadcast journalist, Afia Pokuaa popularly known as Vim Lady has questioned the decision of government to expend a whooping $25 million on the Black Stars’ campaign to clinch a fifth trophy in the ongoing 2021 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroun.

In her view, the expenditure is a total waste of the country’s scarce resources and will not yield any positive results.

She wants the country and its senior national team to pull out of all major international tournaments for, at least, a period of 2 years and focus on building a stronger and resilient team as she believes the current team is too “weak” to win any tournament.

“So this $25mill the minister wants us to waste on this CAF tournament, can’t we ban all tournaments for 2 years and build a proper BLACK STARS TEAM?

Must we suffer BROKEN HEART every time? This is not Milo’s fault. The team is just WEAK,” she stated.

The broadcast journalist’s concerns follow the Black Stars’ defeat to Morocco in their opening game at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé.

Ghanaians particularly on social media have been left disappointed after the senior national team failed to live up to expectations in their match against the North African team. Prior to the commencement of the tournament, football lovers in the country expressed misgivings about the team’s chances of excelling considering their poor showing in recent times.

They, regardless, threw their support behind them in the lead up to their game against Morocco with the hope that their support would ginger the team to do well. But that was not to be as the team suffered a defeat to the Moroccans.
