Head of Sports at Dreamz FM Salifu Afanga says the national men’s team the Black Stars do not stand any good chance of winning their next match against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
The team after losing to Cape Verde in their opener in the ongoing Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) must win their next game to keep their aspiration of progressing further in the tournament alive.
But speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM this afternoon, Salifu Afanga said the Black Stars do not have the quality and expertise to surpass their Egyptian counterparts in the match.
“Our chances against Egypt is difficult. You realize that Egypt drew against their opponent and we lost. So Egypt will be looking forward to win, Ghana must win against Egypt or forget about progressing. Even a draw against Egypt, mathematically, it doesn’t speak well about us,” he stated.
“For me, we don’t have any chance of beating Egypt. If we are going to beat Egypt then we must perform more than what we performed against Cape Verde. If not, I’m not sure Ghana can go pass Egypt at this time”.
He stated that unlike in previous encounters when the team were at their best and beat the Egyptian aside, they are currently at their lowest point and will struggle for a win against the Pharaohs.
“Since the late Christian Atsu together with Asamoah Gyan and other guys were able to demolish Egypt by 6 goals to 1, we have not seen an improvement in our chances against the Egyptians”.
He is, however, hoping that the inclusion of Mohammed Kudus in the next match will do the trick for the Black Stars.
Salifu argued that the entire team setup is built around the West Ham United’s winger hence, his presence on the field of play could positively affect the outcome.
