Former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor has denied making what some have described as unsavory  remarks against the Member of Parliament for Korle-Klottey.

During proceedings yesterday, a male voice was heard yelling, “sit down, you daughter of a murderer”.

The voice went ahead to justify the comment in Twi, saying, “isn’t it trite knowledge that their (the person yelled) father killed people”.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who was on his feet contributing to discussion on the floor when the comment was made, appeared shocked and quickly turned to his back where the voice seemed to have come from.

Though the voice didn’t mention a name, many believed the comment was directed at Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, who is daughter of the late President J. J. Rawlings.

Some have taken to social to denounce the remark and called for a probe to fish out and deal with the person who made such utterances.

However, others have already started pointing accusing fingers at the Member of Parliament for Damongo Samuel Abu Jinapor.

But in a post on social media, the MP and former minister described the accusation as false and urged the public to disregard it.

“The general public is kindly advised to totally disregard the suggestion that I made unsavory comments about Hon. Dr. Zanetor Rawlings while she was on her feet on the floor of Parliament contributing to a statement. For the record, the said allegation is absolutely false,” he said in a post on his social media handle.

He stated that he has utmost respect for the former President and his family and thus, will not denigrate them in anyway.

“I have and will not denigrate the Rawlings’s in any form or shape and any Ghanaian for that matter. That is not in my nature.”

He added, “I have always believed in decent debates and intellectual discourse in Ghanaian public life and Parliament especially, devoid of insults and character assassination!”
