The Public Relations Officer of social activist group BONABOTO, Stanley Apobam is unimpressed with the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo’s commitment to the development of the area.

Abopam, speaking in a Dreamz FM’s documentary dubbed Constituency Highlight, said the MP, though outspoken, has not done much to tackle the developmental challenges besetting the Upper East Regional capital.

“I can honestly tell you sincerely that I do think the current MP has lived up to the billing in dealing with the developmental challenges of the constituency” .

The BONABOTO’s PRO mentioned the MP’s failure to make any fiscal contribution to the setting up of the dialysis centre to buttress his assertion, adding that Isaac Adongo has shown little or no interest in championing the pressing needs of constituents.

“The issue of the airport has been a very critical issue in this region so much such that people have to mobilize, hold rallies. His involvement has always been limited if not completely absent,” he stated.

Ahead of the December polls, however, Abopam believes Isaac Adongo has an edge over his contender, Elvis Awonekai of the New Patriotic Party on account of the MP’s experience and exposure.

“I think that Isaacc has an edge over Figo. Rightly because he has the experience as a politician, having being to Parliament twice. He also he has the exposure by design of his work, he has a better exposure than Figo”.

But that, he said, “is not enough to discount the ability of Figo because we have not seen his experience relative to Parliament”.

Three persons are contesting the Bolgatanga Central seat in the December 7 elections. They are Isaac Adongo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who seeking a third term as MP, Elvis Awonekai of the NPP and Peter Akunlebe of the PNC.

But for Stanley Apobam, it is a two-man race between the NPP’s candidate and the incumbent MP.
