Former Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage has ridiculed the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Constituency, Sampson Tangombu Chiragia following his defeat in the just ended parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The MP, in an interview after casting his vote at the voting centre in Navrongo on Saturday, made reference to Madam Abayage, whom he beat in the 2020 parliamentary elections in the constituency, to reinforce his point that he was going to win the primaries by a huge margin.
But the former Minister did not take this reference lightly and decided to get back at the legislator after he lost his bid to seek re-election on the NDC’s ticket.
In a post on social media minutes after results of the polls were declared, Madam Abayage called out the MP for underestimating her efforts in the 2020 Elections.
According to her, Mr. Chiragia would not have won the polls against her if he had not gotten the backing of some bigwigs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She added that Mr. Chiragia has been abysmal in his role as the people’s representative reason he has been beaten by someone she says is known in the area.
“But for them gang-r@ping (teaming up against) me there’s no way he’d be in parliament and that his delivery in Navrongo Central has been so terribly miserable that his own people just wanted him out (unprecedented first term).
It took a ‘not so known young man’ to come and collect you off your feet (despite the number of contestants),” she stated.
She added, “I don’t like it when people underestimate what we did. Maybe non has ever chalked what we chalked”.
Ridiculing him over his defeat, Madam Abayage welcomed him to “the table of losers”.
