The Gonjaland Traditional Council has called for the arrest and prosecution of persons whose actions led to the death of a 90 year old woman in Kafaba, a community located few kilometers from Salaga in the Savanna region.
Akua Denteh, a 90 year old grey haired woman and resident of the Kafaba community was accused of witchcraft by a witch doctor who is reported to have come from another community in the Bono East region. The findings of the witch doctor who is now at large against the deceased sparked a daylight merciless beating which led to the death of madam Akua Denteh.
The Gonjaland Traditional Council in a statement expressed shock at the barbaric incident adding that it was “committed at the blindside of the Traditional Authority.”
“The Gonjaland Traditional Council has received with shock and grief news of the alleged brutal killing of one of its subjects by some individuals who allegedly accused her of witchcraft” the statement said.
The Overlord Yagbonwura Tuntumba BoreEssa(I) further urged community members to assist the police with information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the act.
Meanwhile It has been reported by local media in the Savanna region that the female witch doctor identified as Fatima hails from the Upper West Region but based in Yeji in the Bono East Region.
The reports further suggest Fatima is a widely known spiritualist in several communities in the Savanna region following her crafty exposure of persons she says are witches and wizards.
