As part of its annual gesture and initiative aimed at giving back to society and putting smiles on others especially women, telecommunications giants, MTN Ghana on Monday, December 26, 2022, presented hampers to 55 babies that were delivered at four different facilities.
The four facilities include the Upper East Regional Hospital which recorded 13 deliveries. The Bongo District hospital also in the Upper East recorded 9 births On Christmas day. The Walewale District Hospital and BMC Medical Center all in the North East Region recorded 19 and 15 deliveries, respectively.
The hampers contained diapers, powder, baby oil, pomade, and airtime of 100 cedis among others.
Donating the items, the Upper East Regional Manager of MTN Ghana, Richard Asamane said the gesture forms part of the telecoms company’s annual event to put smiles on the faces of women who deliver on Christmas day.
He added that the exercise is to share in the double joy of the women.
“Christmas is a season of joy, it is one of happiness and it is a season where we make merry and share and as MTN, we believe in this season and we believe that reaching out to these people will show that the yellow family is thinking about people that are coming into this world around this festive season and you could see the joy and that is what we seek to do, to brighten the lives of people as our vision will always say,” he explained.
On the prospects of 2023, Mr. Asamane continued stating “We wish our clients a happy new year and what we will only tell them is that they should expect a lot more from us especially now that we are moving into a new digital space. We just launched the E-SIM so we urge subscribers to go ahead and try the new technology of using a phone without the actual SIM card but you can still do everything as expected,” he added.
The beneficiaries were full of gratitude and praise to MTN for the gesture. One of such beneficiaries, Dankwa Christiana said “Yesterday that I gave birth and I want to thank MTN for all that you have done for us. I want to encourage everyone to use MTN,” the excited mother said while beaming with smiles.
