Upper East based music trio, Rockcity could not win the Next Rated Act of the Year at the 4th edition of the 3 Music Awards held virtually on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC).
The music trio represented the Upper East Region at the 2021 edition of the 3 Music Awards after beating competition from other artistes including Nambawan, Gingsen and Carlblingx at the regional level.
The group, however, failed to win the ultimate Next Rated Act of the Year losing it to the Greater Accra Regional representative, Malcolm Nuna.
Many industry players were hopeful that Rockcity would pick up the award to give the region its second win in a row after Soorebia’s win last year.
This, they believe, would have given the Upper East Music Industry the needed attention and attract investment for the growth of the industry.
But that was not to be as they failed to secure the needed votes from the general public in order to win the award.
Rockcity has, since its breakthrough into the limelight in 2017, been consistent releasing hit songs back to back and winning numerous awards both in the region and outside the region.
It was adjudged Artiste of the Year at the 2020 edition of the Happy Man Bitters Upper East Music Awards (UEMA).
