Two hundred and sixty (260)young women and men, comprising 90% females and 10% males, have been recruited for Cohort One (1) of Dansyn Innovation Social Organization’s (Dansyn ISO) Accelerating Change Through Innovation in Agricultural TVET (ACTIVATE) Project.
The project is a five-year initiative being implemented by the World University Services of Canada (WUSC) Ghana, in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation.
The goal of the project is to enhance the well-being and resilience of young men and women in Ghana by developing an industry-led, demand-driven Agriculture, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) System.
The project targets young people aged 15-35, especially women, individuals with disabilities, refugees, and displaced persons.
It is being implemented in the Upper East Region in partnership with Social Enterprises Ghana (SE Ghana) and WUSC Funded by MasterCard Foundation.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of an orientation for the beneficiaries of Cohort 1, the Chief Executive Officer of Dansyn ISO, Daniel Yennube Nang, explained that his outfit is tackling three components: the poultry value chain, fabrication of agricultural tools, and software development.
He said the focus on the youth especially women is because of their vulnerability and thus, the project is aimed at empowering them to be self-reliant.
Dr. Yennube Nang also disclosed that the beneficiaries would receive stipends for the three-month training for their transportation.
“For this cohort, we recruited about 260. So the Poultry, they about 100, the fabrication of agricultural tools, they are 80 and the software development, they are 80. So, after three months, we can recruit again. We have to keep doing that to support young people. We targeting the youth and more young women because they are vulnerable and they need support,” he said.

The beneficiaries expressed their excitement for the opportunity to be part of the training as they look forward to gaining practical skills that can help them to be productive.
Meanwhile, the orientation saw a lecturer at the Bolgatanga Technical University, the Assembly Member for the Anafobisi Electoral Area, Hannah Asanyuure Talata among others engage the trainees on the need for them to conduct themselves well and put the knowledge gained to practice.
