The Member of Parliament-elect for Bongo Constituency Charles Bawaduah is hopeful that the implementation of the much touted 24-hour economy by the incoming John Mahama administration will provide jobs for youth of the constituency.

Charles Bawaduah said the proposed policy, if roll out,  will create more jobs particularly in the security sector and result in the establishment of new factories that will require labourers to run them.

This, he believes, will provide employment opportunities for all in the country including youth of his constituency.

“We believe that the 24-hour economy, when it is put in place, will largely help our young men and women in procuring jobs,” he said.

“We have a lot of young men who are educated. And when that policy is implemented, it will ensure that there will be an increase in the number of security personnel.”

He continued, “Our young men and women can get places in these services. We believe that that policy will also come with factories, and that will engage our young men also. So, by and large, the 24-hour economy will mainly, as it were, create more jobs for our people”.

The MP-elect is also optimistic that the new Mahama administration will address infrastructure deficit and the many challenges hampering education in the area including inadequate furniture.

He reiterated the NDC and the President-elect’s promise to establish to establish farmer services centres to boost agricultural activities in the country and the construction of roads, a secondary health facility as well as a sports stadium in the constituency.

Charles Bawaduah dismissed assertions that the NDC has failed to develop the area despite the people’s unwavering loyalty to the party.

He said although there remains a lot to be done, the NDC has done better in ensuring the area gets its share of the national cake compared to the governing New Patriotic Party.
