Young boxer Joseph Awinongya Jr. has been selected to represent the United States of America (USA) at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.
Awinongya Jr. has been selected among a team of sportsmen and sportswomen who will be representing the USA at the sporting event scheduled to take place from July 26, 2024 to August 11, 2024 in France.
In a statement announcing his selection, Team USA expressed confidence in the ability of the young boxer to excel at the competition.
It said the youngster has demonstrated that he is a formidable competitor and will be an invaluable asset to the team considering his talent and wealth of experience as well as his passion for sports and commitment to excellence.
On his part, Awinongya Jr. voiced his gratitude for the selection, stating, “I am honored to have been selected to represent Team USA”.
He added, “I am looking forward to competing against the best of athletes in the world and bringing home a medal for my country”.
A native of Namoo in the Bongo District, Awinongya Jr. has won a number of laurels in his young career and looks forward to claiming more in this competition.
