Former President John Dramani Mahama has said the opposition National Democratic Congress has learnt bitter lessons from the 2020 general elections and would ensure that same is not repeated in 2024.
Declaring the 2024 election as a do or die affair, the former president stressed that acts of rigging that characterized the last elections would not be allowed and given space in the next elections.
According to him, though the Supreme Court dismissed his election petition, it is obvious that events that occurred before and during the election showed clearly that the elections were rigged.
Mr Mahama who is on a tour of the Bono Region said in an interview on Akina Radio monitored by dreamzfmonline that “We have seen people being caught with ballot papers. For everyone that we arrested with one ballot paper, about 100 we didn’t arrest. For me I’m very sure that there was a slot of staffing of the ballot boxes. If you look on the BVR machine and look at the ballot papers in the ballot box you would see that the ballot papers are more than the number on the BVR machine. You can see that the election was stolen yet the supreme Court said that’s what is supposed to be. We have agreed for the peace of this country”.
He continued that “They say whatever that happens you have to learn from it. The elections would be won or lost at the polling station. At the polling station there, it will be do or die. I am not saying all die be die but do or die. The right thing must be done. In 2024, we will win the election at the polling station”.
