The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is aiming to win about 5 to 6 seats in the Upper East Region in next year’s  polls.

Bolgatanga East, Tempane, Pusiga and Navrongo Central are among the seats the party is eyeing to snatch from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 Elections in addition to the Binduri one, which is its only seat in the region.

The NPP went into the 2020 Elections with 3 seats from the Upper East Region but lost all to its opponents and only managed to win that of Binduri.

Speaking on the party’s poor performance in the region, Salahu-Deen Musah Al-Khomeini, who is the Regional Youth Organizer, said the party has identified the factors that accounted for its poor showing and is taking steps to resolve them to soar up its chances in subsequent elections.

“We are coming in to change the fortunes. Since I became regional youth organizer, I have been visiting constituencies, engaging the base of the party, trying to understand what are the problems?

Why are we not  doing well in some of these areas? When I went around, listening to the people  and most of the things they say, it was from that point that I realise that if these are the issues they’re  mentioning  then it means that those seats are winnable”.

He said he expects the party to win not less than 5 seats in the region in the 2024 polls.
