A Pollster, Ali Imoro, has stated that the Pusiga Constituency seat is one of the easiest for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win in the Upper East Region.
This he believes is possible due to the long stay of the Member of Parliament being in the scene which could lead to voter apathy.
Another factor that the Pollster believes could probably favour the NPP in Pusiga has to do with the caliber of candidate put forward ahead of the election.
Mr. Imoro, explains that the NPP has a younger and more vibrant candidate in the person of the buffer stock CEO, Abdul which could play to his advantage.
“The NPP knows that they can win Pusiga not because of good work. But given the fact that they gave a very young candidate, they have a vibrant candidate. And then there’s voter apathy. Hajia has been there for quite sometime now, there is fatigue and there may be something different coming”.
However, he thinks it is a defeatist approach to attempt to get minors and foreigners registered in order to take part in the Elections.
“It’s too clear for people to know that there are other motives behind. What’s so special about us registering our brothers who have gone to Burkina or Togo and are there that we have to give them instant Ghana Cards when those who have been in Ghana, working and paying taxes both direct and indirect are struggling to get this Ghana Card and have to wait in long queues and then you finish the process and you have to wait for months and years before your card get delivered to you”.
Speaking on the State of Our Nation, the Pollster described the concerns being raised by the NDC as valid following the conduct of a special Ghana Card exercise at a time and the limited voter registration exercise was on going.
