A senior lecturer at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Prof. Michael Adongo Ayamga believes it is necessary that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins the 2024 elections.

Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, Prof. Adongo Ayamga said the current government led by President Akufo-Addo has no interest in good governance and therefore, will not reverse the wrong trajectory the country is headed.

“An NDC victory is necessary because we have reached a point the government has lost interest in leading. We are now having two very strong people in the country rather than institutions. So we are experiencing state capture,” he stated.

He, thus, believes removing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from government and bringing in the NDC is the only way to turn things around for the better.

“ I think the bus is on high speed. There is nothing to stop apart from a change in government that give us the chance to reboot and to update the software and start going again.”

The development economics lecturer said this while reacting to research and data firm, Fitch Solutions’ projection of victory for the NDC in the December polls.

The firm based in London in the United Kingdom disclosed that 54 percent of Ghanaians surveyed tipped John Mahama of the NDC to win the elections.

Prof. Adongo Ayamga is confident that the NDC’s flagbearer will win more than the 54 percent prediction by Fitch Solutions.

He, however, warned that the NDC and its presidential candidate could lose the goodwill of Ghanaians ahead of the polls if they do not do away with complacency and demonstrate their resolve to tackle the myriad challenges the citizenry is beset with.
