The 2020 parliamentary candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency Francis Ayadago has defected from the LPG to the National Democratic Congress.

Francis Ayadago was officially welcomed to the NDC at a mini rally organized after the Member of Parliament and the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Constituency successfully filed his nomination.

Speaking to the press on the side-lines of the rally, Ayadago attributed his move to wrangling within his former party and the prevailing economic difficulties, which he blamed on the New Patriotic Party’s government.

According to him, disagreement among party executives and the founder of the LPG after the 2020 elections resulted in some of them leaving the party.

“After the general election, we encountered a lot of internal issues with the party founder and party executives,” he stated.

“Because of the past election, things they were supposed to do and things they were not supposed to do. To be honest with you, we had to rethink and then take a decision. A decision in the sense that we are young and we need to build a foundation of something that will have a good future”.

He explained that the current challenges plaguing the country is an indication of the NPP government’s failure and thus, his decision to join the NDC to push the NPP out of power.

He believes the NDC has the right leadership and ideas to resolve the crisis and has, therefore, pledged to work hard to bring the party to power.

“This NPP government has failed the people of Ghana very woefully.”

He continued, “The promises that they made and if you look at things that are happening, I think it’s one of the factors why I’m defecting to the great NDC. I believe in their policies, I believe in the flag bearers’ ideas and plans that he has in stock for the people of Ghana. I think together we should come together and make it possible for the NDC to come to power”.
