Orijin, one of Guinness Ghana’s flagship brands, has kick-started zonal auditions for its nationwide talent search dubbed Orijin Untamed in the Upper East Region.
Orijin Untamed, which was introduced as part of activities to celebrate the brand’s 8th anniversary, is seeking to unearth and celebrate exceptional talent in the field of art, music and spoken word.
The first zonal audition which was held on October 13, 2023 at Bombs Event in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region saw participants thrilled judges and audience with their exceptional skills in singing, rapping and spoken word.
After an initial round of performances, 5 out of the 17 participants overwhelmingly impressed the judges, progressing to the final stage of the competition.
The 5 were then tasked to demonstrate their originality in 5 minutes in their various fields of endeavor with the theme “Orijin”.
One by one, each of them took charge of the stage, electrifying audience with spectacular performances.
Two of them, a spoken word artiste and a singer, however, swept the judges off their feet and have been selected to compete for a grand prize of 80,000 cedis in Accra.
The singer, who emerged as the overall winner of the Bolgatanga zonal audition, walked home with a cash prize of 8,000 cedis.
Similar auditions are expected to be held in Kumasi, Takoradi and Accra before the finale in December.
Marketing Manager of International Spirits and Ready to Drink brands at Guinness Ghana, Yaa Amoah-Owusu explained that the talent show is the company’s way of giving back to its customers for keeping them in business for all this while.
She added that the Upper East Region has been identified as one of the brand’s largest market reason it kick-started the project in the region.
While expressing delight over the great talents in the region, Ms. Amoah-Owusu indicated that the show will be an annual event and thus, urged those who could not make it this round to partake in the subsequent editions.
“Bolgatanga, according to our research, is actually one of the places that consumes the brand a lot and we said there’s no other place to start this whole auditioning than Bolgatanga, that is why we are here and I’m so much impressed.
I had been told that I would see a lot of talent but it has been very refreshing seeing so many people burning with talents. I wish we could reward more than 2 people but we definitely cannot do that and so I just want to encourage the rest who couldn’t make that this is not the end,” she said.
One of the judges and rapper, Soreebia commended the brand for extending the project to the Upper East Region.
The overall winner, Klassic Again also expressed gratitude to Orijin for giving them the platform to showcase their talents and assured the region of making it proud at the grand finale.
