District Chief Executive for the Builsa South District Daniel Kwame Gariba says a rice factory constructed in the area will be commissioned soon.
The project, built under the government’s 1 District, 1 Factory (1D1F) initiative, was completed in 2022 and personnel trained to man it.
However, over two years now, the project among 3 others constructed in the Upper East Region is yet to be operationalized.
But speaking in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM, the DCE stated that it will be commissioned in no time.
He said the requisite machinery and other equipment needed for a smooth operationalization have been installed, awaiting commissioning by the government.
“Last year, the machinery was installed. Just last 2 weeks, they brought the transformer to make sure that we have stable power supply. It’s a complete factory now. We are waiting for it to be commissioned. Once it is commissioned, it starts production,” he said.
“We are waiting for commissioning. So we will commission very soon. The consultant of the project, and the ministry will give us a date for us to commission. So nobody should say the Upper East, we don’t have a 1D1F project. We have it in Builsa South”.
Daniel Gariba said this while disputing claims that the government has not successfully put up any factory in the region under its initiative said to drive industrialization.
