Actress Salma Mumin has apologised to telecommunications company, MTN Ghana, noting that her false allegation against them was as a result of “misapprehension” on her part.
Ms Mumin had claimed on Instagram that MTN Ghana had stolen some GHC 10,000 from her mobile money(MoMo) account.
But she hurriedly deleted the post when MTN Ghana confronted her with evidence that she did not even have as much as GHC 10,000 in her account, let alone its staff withdrawing it on her blindside.
The company then demanded that the lying actress apologise within 24-hours or face their wrath in court.
In less than 24 hours after MTN Ghana’s rejoinder demanding that she retract and apologise , she has obliged, saying that she made the false claim due to ” misapprehension “.
” As a result of a misapprehension, I mistakenly and unfortunately made a post to the effect that “MTN KEEP SAYING NOBODY CAN WITHDRAW YOUR MONO ACCOUNT WITHOUT YOUR CONCERN BUT I JUST FOUND OUT MY over GH( 10,000 Cedis from my business mono account has been taken…MTN IS NOT SAFE ANYMORE!”
It was clearly mistaken. I hereby retract the said post and apologise unreservedly to MTN Ghana for any inconvenience caused it by my earlier post.
I also express my sincere gratitude to MTN Ghana for its effective and prompt support in resolving the difficulty I was facing with my transaction,” her apology reads.
Many had condemned Ms Mumin after she deleted the post alleging the theft. They argued that such hasty accusations of wrongdoing could negatively affect the fortunes of the companies in question.
Even after her apology, she is being castigated for intentionally seeking to dent the image and reputation of the company for cheap social media trends.
Meanwhile MTN Ghana is yet to react to the apology.
