Ghanaian rapper Kwaku Addai better known by his stage name as Criss Waddle has denied claims that he is running for the Tema West Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
Posters emerged particularly on social media suggesting that Criss Waddle who is the CEO of AMG Business is contesting the Tema West Constituency on the ticket of CPP against the sitting Member of Parliament of the Constituency, Carlos Kinsley Ahenkorah in the December 2020 elections.
But the AMG Business CEO in a statement dated September 7, 2020 denied contesting for the seat stating that he neither has any association with any political nor has he been endorsed by a political party.
“We unequivocally state that Criss Waddle is not affiliated, associated, authorize, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with the Convention People’s Party or any of its subsidiaries & any other political party,” he said in the statement.
Describing the emergence of the posters and the circulation of same on social media as a “deceptive scheme”, he stated that his stage name and images as well as well his brand marks are solely for business purposes and has no affiliation with any political party.
The Tema based rapper therefore advised the general to disregard any financial request to execute any political campaign in his name.
“The name Criss Waddle as well as related names, marks and images are registered trademarks of AMG Business & not any political party. We strongly advise people to also ignore financial support requests from whoever’s behind this scheme,” the statement added.
