Comedian and actor, Richard Asante popularly known as Kalybos has hit back at critics who took him and others on for campaigning against their colleague actor, John Dumelo in the Ayawaso West Wuogon.
According to Kalybos, he only exercises his constitutionally guaranteed freedom to associate with a political party and candidate he believes in and thus, cannot be tagged as a traitor of his friend, John Dumelo as his critic are suggesting.
While describing Games Gardiner and others, who started showing support for Mr. Dumelo following their campaign for the NPP, as hypocrites, he said his campaign for the NPP parliamentary in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency does not make him an enemy of John Dumelo.
“For your information, John Dumelo and I are very cool and we are not determined enemies. So, stop creating room for that because he knows what democracy and friendship is. Meaning we disagree to agree based on your opinion. Myself with some colleagues went to Ayawaso West Wuogon, Ablekuma North and James Town to campaign for our beloved Party NPP and our President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, “he stated.
He added “the hypocrisy in some of us so called friends are overwhelmingly surprising. A wake up call came for those who chant #idey4u for John Dumelo who are supposed friends and colleagues of John but have never posted or shown support towards his campaign until KALYBOS and Co went to show support for their party NPP.”
Kalybos, Prince David Osei, Bismark The Joke, Bibi Bright and other celebrities are captured in pictures that have since gone viral in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency campaigning for Lydia Alhassan, the NPP parliamentary candidate.
But their support for the NPP candidate against John Dumelo who is their colleague in the movie industry has sparked criticism from some entertainers including Beverly Afaglo and Games Gardiner.
Actress, Beverly Afaglo, for instance, intimated that their action is a betrayal of friendship and the industry they belong to.
