Award-winning musician, Martin Mbabil Sore, known in showbiz as Soorebia, has reacted to criticism that he has gone silent after winning the 2020 3Music Awards Next Rated Artiste category, saying that his inability to release more songs after winning the coveted award is partly due to personal issues.
Speaking in an interview with Bolgatanga-based Yem Radio, the 2Strings hitmaker said he recognizes the fact that many, including his fans expected more from him after the award but challenges beyond his control have him kept him on the low. He stressed that he was doing his very best under the circumstances.
“I know a lot of people expected the energy to be more after winning such an award. But I can’t kill my self,” he joked.
The BBT star has come under severe criticism from Showbiz watchers over his apparent lack of activity and content since he was declared the Next Rated Artiste in Ghana.
Soorebia explained that ‘unmentionable’ personal reasons aside, some music-related difficulties have caused his fairly long hibernation, assuring that things are about to change.
“There are so many reasons why I have been silent: some are personal; most are personal [issues that] I don’t usually want to put them out there. People who follow our music forget sometimes that we have personal lives.
There are certain things that will happen to you off the music that will hold you back in the music. I don’t want to come public with them but for whatever reasons they are, things are about to change now” he said.
Soorebia can only boast of one single titled “Happiness” since winning the coveted award.
Meanwhile, he is set to return to his native hometown of Pelungu in the Nabdam District of Upper East region to headline a show dubbed “Soorebia Home Coming” slated for Saturday 14th November.
