Rapper Sarkodie has endorsed the re-election bid of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the December Elections.
In a song titled “Happy Day” featuring Lynx Entertainment signee, Kumai Eugene, the rapper justified his endorsement of the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a second term in office.
Rapping in the Twi language, the Sarkcess music CEO recalled that he had had course to complain about the bad governance of the previous Mahama’s administration which he said was bedeviled with frequent power outages and high inflation but the situation, he claimed, has improved since the assumption of office of the Nana Addo-led administration.
In his opinion, the Akufo-Addo’s government has improved the economic conditions of Ghanaians and has ensured constant supply to households and industries. He added that policies such as the Free Senior High School Programme has made life comforting for Ghanaians.
He asserted that the performance of the Akufo-Addo government in office for the past three and half years has left him with no choice but to commend the government and declare his support for the re-election of the president.
“When there was dumsor and inflation, I talked about it. But if today the problem of Dumsor has been solved and my children go to school for free, then I have nothing to say but to ask Nana to continue ruling,” he said in the song.
Though the under 4 minute song largely praises God and underscores the need to remain steadfast and trust God in challenging circumstances, it has been viewed by some Ghanaians as a campaign song for the ruling party ahead of the December Elections.
