Even before it starts full operations in the Upper East Region, CalBank PLC., has started honouring its social corporate responsibility to the region.
The bank, on Thursday, March 9, 2023, donated medical consumables to the Regional Hospital to aid healthcare delivery in the region.
The donation, which was made shortly after commissioning of the Bolgatanga Branch of the Bank, included 20 boxes of isolation gowns, 9 boxes of nose masks and 7 boxes of face shields.
At a brief ceremony at the premises of the hospital to hand over the items, Managing Director of Cal Bank, Philip Owiredu said quality healthcare delivery is paramount to the bank hence, its decision to kick start its operations by supporting the main referral facility in the region.
“We all know that post-Covid-19, PPEs have become a key thing for health workers to be able to protect themselves while they deliver the services.
In this institution, one of the things that we focus on is to support the health within the community though we do have other things that we focus on. So we thought that we should just make a start engaging the community here and providing this to them,” Mr. Owiredu stated.

He indicated that the donation has come as a great relief to the hospital as such consumables are hard to come by under the current circumstances of the country and will be quickly deployed to enhance the quality of healthcare services.
“This has come as come as a very much needed relief and these consumables and we all know the current system that we are in; the difficulties with getting these consumables.
They will be deployed to our theatre and other related service areas. And we are sure that it will impact on the lives that we are going to save in the region,” he said.
