Private Legal Practitioner Lawyer Lamtiig Apanga has commissioned and handed over a mechanized water system at Pelungu market in the Nabdam district.
The water project forms part of the initiative undertaken by him to construct mechanized boreholes and water systems for all three zones in the Nabdam district.
Other communities namely Zanlerigu, Asonge and Sakote will benefit from the estimated 10 boreholes project being undertaken.
Speaking at the commissioning of the project on Wednesday December 28, 2022, Lawyer Lamtiig Apanga disclosed that the decision to site the Pelungu borehole project in the market was based on a sound advice from the Chief of Pelungu as the most appropriate location to serve market women, men, visitors and patrons of the business hub.
“There is no point in staying in Accra and showing your worth without coming home to support. I have thought about the importance of water and I realised how our mothers and women suffer a lot during the dry season. I also know that water can be the source of illness and so it is important that I provide good portable water and as they say water is life. So I spoke to my father [Pelungu Chief] and he said the best place to put the water is in the market because the market is for everyone. The market for for men, women, NPP, NDC, PPP, CPP and everyone. If you have water here, this is the melting point of Nabdam,” he said.
He further urged parents in the Nabdam area to take keen interest in the education of their children, citing himself as a product of good education after having practiced as a lawyer for about a decade.
It will be recalled that Lawyer Lamtiig Apanga announced his desire to be elected Member of Parliament for the Nabdam constituency on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress.
The decision to contest the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the party he noted was born out of his desire to serve his people on the wings of political power and office.
