President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has admonished final year Senior High School students to perform excellently well in the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination to shame critics of the Free Senior High School Program.
In the assertion of the President, it is critical and imperative for the students to excel in their examinations especially because they are the first badge of students writing the final examination under Free SHS.
“This exams that you are sitting, you are the first free SHS students to be sitting for the WASSCE. So do your very best and we will put to shame all of those who said that it was not a good idea. Let them know that it is an excellent idea,” he said.
The President who was addressing students of the Keta Senior High School in the Volta region as part of his tour of that region reminded the students that the country is making a huge investment in their education by paying heavily for it to be made possible, a reason they must take advantage of the initiative to make a bright future for themselves.
“The country [society] is making a lot of investment and sacrifices to give you this opportunity. Use it well for yourselves and for Ghana,” he added.
President Nana Addo as part of his tour commissioned some projects including a 12 unit classroom block constructed under the emergency infrastructure projects aimed at facing out the double track system.
