The first night of the 21st edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) took place from the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Friday, August 28, 2020.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, live audience was restricted to a few invited guests.
The about two hour event which was moderated by TV 3 and 3 FM’s Giovanni Caleb and Actress and TV host, Sika Osei kick started with performances from some of Ghana’s best musicians.
Winners of some of the award categories were announced on the night while winners of the remaining categories will be announced today, August 29, 2020 with most music lovers already predicting winner of the coveted award.
Musician, Kofi Kinaata made history on the night when he emerged as winner of the Song Writer of the Year category award. This is his third time of winning that award and he is the first musician to have won it three times at the VGMA winning it in 2016 and 2017.
Rapper Sarkodie also picked up the Best International Collaboration with his song ‘Lucky’ which featured Nigerian superstar, Rudeboy while DopeNation went home with the Group of the Year award.

Traditional Group of the Year – Tessa Group
Best International Collaboration – Sarkodie ft Rudeboy
Africa Artiste of the Year – Burna Boy
Lifetime Achievement of the Year – George Darko
