Lynx Entertainment signee, Dennis Nana Dwamena better known by his stage name, KiDi has won Artiste of the Year at the 23rd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on May 6 and 7, 2022.
The high-life/Afrobeats singer was tipped to win the coveted award at last year’s edition of the awards but lost out to gospel artiste, Diana Hamilton.
He, however, came back stronger this year, beating his contenders including Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, Black Sherif and Joe Mettle to win the topmost award.
He won the most awards at the 2-day event, bagging as many as 5 awards including Vodafone Most Song of the Year (Touch it), Album/EP of the Year (The Golden Boy EP), Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year and Best Reggae Dancehall Song awards.
Others winners on the nights include Konogo-based fast rising hip hop musician, Black Sherif who took home New Artiste of the Year and Best Hip Hop Song awards.
Reggae Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, who returned to the VGMAs after the lifting of the ban which was imposed on him and his colleague, Shatta Wale following brawl between them in the 2019 edition of the awards, also bagged the Raggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and the Vodafone Green Award with his ‘Greedy Men’ song.
