The Black Stars of Ghana has been drawn in Group H for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is set to take place in Qatar later this year.

Ghana’s senior national team is in the same group with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay and will commence its World Cup campaign in the Asian country against Portugal.

The Black Stars will also play Uruguay and South Korea in subsequent matches in the group stage.

In 2010, the senior national team’s bid to progress to the semi-finals of that year’s FIFA World Cup was painfully cut short by Uruguay thus, its draw with the South American country in this year’s tournament may be the perfect chance to revenge.

Ghana is one of the five countries representing Africa in the 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar. The Black Stars secured the ticket to the tournament after the away goal rule was applied following a 1-1 draw with Nigeria in the second leg of the qualifier playoff in Abuja.

The first leg which took place in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium ended in a goalless draw and the Black Stars needed a goal draw in the second leg to qualify which they managed to get.

This will be the fourth time the Black Stars of Ghana is making an appearance in the tournament having made similar appearances in 2006, 2010 and 2014.
