Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale has announced that he is turning himself in to the Ghana Police Service for feigning a gun attack on himself.
The police, in a statement last night, said it had combed hospitals in Accra and contacted family members as well as friends in search of the dancehall musician following reports that he was shot by gunmen but could not locate his whereabouts.
But the controversial musician, in the wee hours of today, indicated that the supposed attack on him was a publicity stunt. He said he feigned the attack on him in order to get the police into action after the service failed to act upon his complaint about a self-styled prophet who predicted that he would be shot on October 18, 2021.
The police has since picked up the said prophet to assist in its investigation. Reacting to the arrest of the prophet, Shatta Wale stated that “If the pastor has been arrested then I need to be arrested too because that was what I wanted. Thank you IGP. Reporting myself in a bit”.
The musician could face charges including knowingly spreading false information which caused fear and panic and if convicted, will face a jail term of up to 3 years.
